EDF Australia is committed to supporting innovation and building local supply chain capability ensuring regional businesses and communities benefit not only from economic activity during construction but also maximising opportunities to upskill and enable long-term industry participation.
This is demonstrated through EDF Group’s global charter for supporting the development of innovate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who are vital to the project success and local economic development. As well our global Research and Development (R&D) division which researches and innovates to solve challenges facing the energy sector. The R&D division supports all business lines and subsidiaries of EDF, including EDF Australia.

Research is driven by two key missions:
Globally, the EDF Group has built a strong network of more than 300 industrial and academic partners including University of Newcastle (UoN), University of Western Australia (UWA), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (US), Imperial College London (UK), Manchester University (UK) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) (Singapore). EDF Australia has access to EDF’s vast expertise, relationships and R&D resources which provides a unique advantage.

EDF Australia has signed an MoU with Swinburne University to launch an innovative initiative. This program is supported by FACET (the Franco-Australian Centre for Energy Transition), funded by the French and Australian Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The program has identified and supports start-ups developing ground-breaking and innovative solutions to address key challenges.
